I bought one like this on sale at Costco and I had to remove the batteries to disable the wave your hand to open. Family members and friends were banging their knuckles, dropping garbage on the floor, and one of them knocked over the can. Some people are too set in their ways to adjust, or as Orwell said “Oldthinkers unbellyfeel Ingsoc.”
