Has anyone bought one?
- How was the nightlight “adjustable?”
- Is the MagSafe strong enough for an iPhone Plus or Pro Max?
Yup - I have bout five of these in the house, between the primary bedroom, the guest room, and one for an office.
These are quite solid, and have a decent heft - Feels like decent quality, which is what I’d expect from Ivanky, given how they also do $300 Thunderbolt docks for Mac products. The hinge for the top is reasonable, and moves well. The MagSafe ring is strong enough to easily hold my wife’s 16 Pro in a chonky case, and it does it firmly. If we’re looking at a Plus or Pro Max model, as long as the case has magnets, I would expect it to be strong enough. And I am guessing slightly, since I prefer the smaller models (only just gave up my 13 Mini for a 15 Pro), but I would venture to say that I think that weighted base would be sufficient to hold the larger phones.
The watch charger can be pulled out from a slot in the bottom of the base, and popped into the side. It has been the most reliable third party watch charger that I’ve used; Never had it misalign and heat up the watch. But if you don’t need it, it can be stowed in the bottom just fine for a sleeker charger.
The nightlight function is one that I only rarely use, and mostly on accident. There is a capacitive touch button on the left side of where the phone would be tilted, just below the hinge and AirPods charging pad. If you press it, you can cycle to a warm white, cool white, or off setting. I have my own preferences for placement, and motion-sensitive lights, so I don’t use this, but it’s not bad - Just not a core feature for me.
Overall, I would rank this above my previous Anker combined charging dock, which had issues with watch alignment frequently whenever most heavier bands were attached. And while my initial purchases were closer to $40, I have chosen to keep adding more of these ones as sales have come up. They’re not large, or super premium in their looks. But they have proven reliable and great for my household, and family who have also gotten some. For this price, it’s a great one-cord solution.
