Hmmm. Looks like it might be nice, but I was told by a reputable viedographer that triple cci was the way to go. Not sure if that’s true these days or not, but I think it still is. I love that it’s using minidv, though; uncompressed recording ftw!
A three-chip camcorder is always the way to go…but if you also want it to be cheap and small, you just aren’t going to find it.
Also, miniDV is not uncompressed. It’s just less compressed than the formats used by some of the craptastic DVD-based and $100 flash-based video cameras. At the same time, miniDV is more compressed than the pro video formats. True uncompressed video is such a hideously high data rate that consumer level computers cannot cope, so practically all digital video is compressed. It’s only a matter of how much.
I am a professional videographer and in response to the 3-CCD comment above yes that is the ideal way to go because it has a separate light sensor for each color (RGB, therefore making it 3-CCD). However, that being said you can find good camcorders for everyday home movies that do just fine without 3ccds… and 3ccds are more expensive than non 3ccds. So, just wanted to clarify that, sorry I haven’t checked out this specific camcorder.
well i’m giong to officially make my girlfriend look at woot for the first time ever today. she watches that puppy cam like all day even though i have a pretty cute dog myself…
