Great reviews (4.7 out of 5.0) over at The O

4.6 Stars over at Wayfair

Made in Japan and only $20? It’s practically a no-brainer. It’s a negative-brainer. Who in their right mind wouldn’t get these? Even the storage block alone costs more than that on Amazon.

Can you confirm that these knives are made in Japan? From a quick search I could find no indication that they are.

Funny, but this is the same as the cuisinart knife set that’s on sale here now and then, just different colors. minus the 4 steak knives.

i happen to have the cuisinart version, they are good knives, came with individual sleeves, not the clear block.

Huh? It’s a totally different brand…I believe the ones here on Woot are of much higher quality.

Does this set include the sheaths a and tip guards that are on the knives when you buy them separately?

From the searching I’ve done, some of the Kai Pure Komachi knives are made in China and some are made in Japan.

As with most stainless steel blades and/or significant others - they are awesome at first, but get duller over time. Sharpening them tends to mar the nice surface color too. The Best knife set (but not significant other) with which I’ve had experience was made of ceramic.

Does the plastic base have slots for the steak knives?

I bought these last time they were for sale. So far so good. Not sure about longevity, but reviews on amazon have been positive. The plastic knife holder is a bit of a joke. It is the size of a basketball rim!!! I put a 22" long magnet on the back splash in my kitchen and put them there.

No it doesn’t.

They did when I got them on the last Woot! offering. However, the tips are more of a pain than useful–and get scraped off when you withdraw the knives. Besides, they’re plenty safe in the knife block. I’m getting rid of almost all my other sets because I like these sooo much.
