The x on the model number is for the type of packaging. X for Kershaw means clam pack or blister pack, not a box.
I have to laugh every time one of the John Rambo characters in these forums complain about the steel quality in their $23 knife.
Seriously, most of you guys are not doing anything day to day that will really test the metal of this knife unless you’re doing the wrong things for the knife. It’s not a screwdriver, a pry bar, made to saw bison in half, etc…
I have 40+ kershaw knives of all levels of quality and every one of them in this category and above (even those with identical steel) are all excellent value for the money.
Cool … THANKS!
Do your country a favor and skip this item. Buy American!
I knew someone would bring this up. I apologize for not being more clear. I agree that for the price, this is an ok steel. I wouldn’t expect better in that price range. My point is weight. If I’m going to saddle myself with a 5.2oz knife, I’d want that weight associated with a better steel.
The are aspects to steel quality unrelated to abuse, like edge retention, corrosion-resistance, ease of sharpening, etc.
Nah, the clips are pretty sturdy. Of the ~20 Kershaw knives in the drawer (don’t ask) only one has ever had the clip come loose, and all that was necessary was to tighten the two screws holding it on. Add a dot of threadlocker if you’re worried.
$2 more at the mothership without any of the return hassles if there is an issue.

Makes sense to me so that’s what I did. I almost wonder if they put it on Woot! with the idea that it would drive traffic there, so they could move their old inventory.

Uhhhhhhhh, no. doesn’t work that way. We buy our own inventory.
Uhhhhhhhhhh, that’s cute. I’m totally sure “we buy our own inventory”. Didn’t mean to make you defensive
