Is there a way to remove ads from this model if it says “Ad Supported”?

Usually you can. It’s not free to remove the ads tho.

I find the Kindle ads to be fairly unobtrusive. It’s just on the lock screen iirc. Also, iirc if you disable wifi they don’t show up. Just turn the wifi back on when you want to dl a book.

It’s not related to this specific model, but I kind of wonder since they’re phasing out 3G, I wonder if they’ll be a 4G/5G Kindle model.

This model did have a 4G version for a while. Amazon didn’t carry that over to the newest Paperwhite. The Oasis is still available in 4G, but I think Amazon is trying to phase out cellular coverage.

The only ads you will see are on the lock screen. I bought this the last time it came up and it’s great and I haven’t seen an ad yet.

Yes, you can pay an additional $20 after you register it with Amazon. Not worth it, ads are only on the first page that is easily swiped through.

Mine arrived today and it don’t have any power cord, or anyway to charge it?

i charged mine today and it is stuck on the screen saver. I press the On button and I see the green light but nothing happens. double press? nothing. long press? nothing. any other combination? nothing.

Maybe try charging it a bit longer. If no luck, reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).

Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.

Browser: Use the Woot! Customer Service form.

Woot! App: Choose Account from the bottom navigation and then Support.

Self-Return: Items without Li-Ion batteries can be self-returned within 30 days. Go to your Order Details to get started. The return label will be emailed from UPS.

Note: Woot! Customer Service replies go to the email address on your Woot! account, not your Amazon login email if used/different.

It may have got stuck on an update. It’s updating now. steps taken:

  1. press and hold power button.
  2. watch for home screen to increase brightness (subtle)
  3. release power button.
  4. plug in as update installs (wait).
  5. system automatically restarts (wait).
  6. system loads (wait).
  7. choose book.
