Kitchen Electronics

I’ve researched the 3 ice cream makers. All have pretty good reviews online. Both 1.5 qt models have been discontinued. The main difference between the two is the style (to match your kitchen decor).

All 3 models require freezing the bowl for 6 - 22 hours before use. It will vary depending on how cold your freezer is.

The bucket style model says “as little as 20 minutes” for operation time.

The other 1.5 qt model says “20 - 30” and the 2 qt model says “25 - 35” for the larger capacity.

I’m leaning towards the bucket model. I like the looks of it.

The hand blender is awesome. I don’t know how I ever cooked without one. I am curious about the Yogurt/Sorbet/Ice cream maker. Meh, my wife would kill me.

I have the 1.5 qt. Cuisinart ice cream maker. I love it! Store the bowl in the freezer, so it’s always ready. I make frozen yogurt with lowfat yogurt, almond milk and fresh fruit - what a treat!

The 1.5 qt model was my first woot purchase waaaay back in January of 2005. I use it all the time still, mostly to make sorbets. It rocks, and my 8 year old (younger than the machine) can use it too.

Quick recipe. 3/4 cup of sugar, with 1.25 cup of water. Heat until dissolved. Cool. Add the liquid contents of one coconut, plus about a 1/2 cup of shredded meat from said coconut. put in machine and yum.

@hot72chev @joshkross There’s two 1.5 quart models for sale here. I assume you guys are referring to the one that says 1.5 in the product title? The red bucket style maker is also a 1.5 quart one.

Yes, the non-bucket one. Bucket technology was not so advance back in aught 5.

***lemme interrupt ice cream maker chat to say…

So I bought that citrus press the last time - best $110 ever spent. Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice in the morning to get the fat burning…

that is all.

Has anyone had any good (or bad) experiences w/either of the blenders? I really need to replace my cheap/instant gratification model.

I’ve had a Hamilton Beach throughout my childhood but I know Cuisinart is a good quality brand. I was thinking about getting one of these to replace the blender I have - doesn’t do so well after 10+ years.

The 2qt ice cream maker is the one to own.

I’ve had the 1qt Ice cream maker for like 3-4 years now, and I make icecream every 4-5 days, non stop(I make zero carb ice cream). So these things really hold up. I’m going to be ordering the 2qt, so I only have to make icecream every 10 days haha

Cuisinart is generally well regarded though some complain of some gadgets using plastic parts that really need to be metal. Breville is a mainstay in Europe and generally makes good stuff. Looking up individual models is a good idea though. Neither company is great at everything.

Hand blender is awesome, but it’s $29.99 at Costco brand new.

We got the Cuisinart bucket model ice cream maker in 2005 as a wedding present. I highly recommend just keeping the bowl in your freezer at all times if you can. Love it, have used all kinds of bases (cooked custard, no-cook, sorbet, etc) with equal success. I like to make up the base early in the day, throw it in the fridge, then pour it into the machine maybe 20 minutes or so before I serve dinner and let it churn while we eat.

Re: 4-Slice Toaster

Amazon has it refurbished at $50, and has a 3/5 star rating.

Unfortunately, many of the reviews state that it does not toast evenly, and that it toasts too much too quickly.

I’ve never owned any Cuisinart items, so I can’t really comment outside of the reviews I see.

The handblender is excellent – durable and versatile. I use the main blade for pureed soups, mashed cauliflower, and whatever else needs to be finely ground. The mini-chopper comes in handy for small amounts of onions, and it’s easier to clean up than the big food processor. And the whisk has made many batches of meringue cookies. I was initially worried that the cord would get in the way, but it’s well designed and not at all annoying.

Also, the black ice cream maker runs $50 at Costco. I bought it at $40, and have had a lot of fun with it, though the 2qt size leaves us with lots of leftovers. Silicone squeeze ice pop molds (like these) are helpful, because you can keep some leftover ice cream in an easily usable form.

I’ve had one of these stick blenders for years. It’s great and I love it. BUT… it only has one speed. You can pulse it with the button and that kinda works.
I am perfectly happy with this one, but if it were lost or destroyed somehow, its replacement would have multiple speeds.

Has anybody gotten the wrong item from this Woot deal? I ordered the Breville Coffeemaker and I got the juicer instead. I emailed support - is there anything else I can do to get the right item that I want? I hope they still have coffeemakers…I’ve been waiting for a grinder/maker combo.
