I ordered one of these and then tried to cancel after I read the Amazon reviews. 'But the shipment was in process. So I got it and set it up. As described in the reviews it started randomly cutting off. I installed the app and utility apps on my iPad and then upgraded to the latest firmware yesterday. Since then I have had no problems. This system has a beautiful sound for a medium sized room. I hooked up the record player for my vinyl collection, the Blu-ray player for my CDs and my iOS devices for other music. It is also capable of streaming. Very versatile!
I got one from here about 2 weeks ago. I am using the optical audio port and had no problems with cut out or whatnot.
Same with heat. After playing for over an hour the amp was barely warm.
But the SQ is very nice and I am rather impressed. The sound is very sublime in that it is never harsh and does not have any nasty audio habits.
now… if I can get the $50 buck back I apparently overpaid, I would be ecstatic.
I barely resisted buying it at 299… Good to hear that those who got it are seeing some of the issues resolved after updating the firmware.

I put in a Discover price claim last week at the 299 price after buying at 399 and this keeps going lower.
I would not hesitate to buy at this price, even if you don’t use it as it’s sold and instead use the mini-amp as just a wifi bridge.
I purchased this set at $300. They sound amazing and are super easy to set up. Two complaints. First the set does not come with speaker wire so you will need to procure your own and probably cut the wire yourself (no problem if you’re accustomed to it). Second, the unit I have has the issue where the powergate will seemingly randomly shut off. This is annoying but tolerable. Others in the thread have stated that a firmware update addresses this but I haven’t done so yet. All in all these speakers sound incredible for the size / price.
I just realized the past Woots for the powergate were paired with the R-15M speakers not these R-14M speakers. Doh. The $50 drop isn’t really a drop, it’s for a lower level speaker. Edit: well I guess there’s been both but the recent one I remembered was for R-15M speakrs. Looks like that one is back actually: Klipsch Bookshelf Speakers and Powergate Amplifier
Here’s a tip for anyone trying to update the firmware: give up trying to use an Android device. Their Android app is broken, at least on recent Android versions. It is unable to locate the device when trying to update the firmware. The iOS version works fine though.
