C-net

5X optical zoom is better than a lot of point and shoot cameras. Many are 3X.

Amazon: Kodak-EasyShare M550

I think the previous amazon link went to the 350.

[Edit: I was obviously wrong. My bad.]

Ive used this camera and taking pictures inside with a flash is terrible. The iris doesnt open enough to use ambient lighting inside and the flash isnt strong enough.

Ive used a bunch of point and shoots in a variety of situations between personal and work settings and I was not at all impressed by this camera.

How much full-resolution pictures can this camera take when the battery is at full charge? How long does a fully charged battery last when recording a video?

Here’s a demo video.

Here’s a commercial for it.

English review site What Digital Camera has this to say:

“All in all, if your [sic] looking to get one of the most affordable cameras on the market and really aren’t fussed about performance, design or image quality, then the Kodak EASYSHARE M550 may be right for you. If any of those factors are important to you however, there are much better options out there.”

All in all, if you want a cheap camera, it sounds like it delivers - but you’ll get what you paid for when it comes to image quality.

$69… you guys at woot have quite the sense of humour.

I agree completely. Most of the time cheap point and shoots like these are used indoors but when they cant even scale down enough to use a half decent shutter speed all of your pictures are going to be blurry. Save up your money and get something with a half decent flash imo.

Guys,
Keep in mind that despite being a 12 MP camera, the movies are only VGA (640x480), not HD. On the plus side, the movies can be as long as long as your memory card allows. Many cameras limit the length of your clips, i.e. 3 or 10 mins, regardless of how much space is left.

Testfreaks rates it high.

Mod edit: Freudian slip? =)
