is the spyware extra?

Did Lenovo make a billion of these? Seems like woot has these for sale weekly, and hourly on woot-offs.

Can’t you just drop the price to $100 and blow them out, so we don’t need to see them again?

I bought one of these 2nd time around.

They’re good, there’s other models out there with HD screens, these are 1366x768 or such.

Memory wise. You can upgrade them with an 8gb memory module. But you’ll have to be brave enough to open it up and remove the little shielded box on the mainboard with tweezers to get at the sodimm port.

Yes it does come with some bloat/spyware. Uninstall it at your leisure.

Case feels pretty solid. Screen is pretty shiny but bright with good colours. You’ll maybe get 5-6 hours out of the battery, don’t believe the 10 hour claims - thats for another model.

The finish on the base (where the keys are) is likely to mark up with fingerprints easily enough. Keys aren’t so much backlit as ‘under lit’. You’d best get used to breaking in the chiclet keyboard… the keys are spaced a little apart which your muscle memory has to get used to before you can type effectively.

The machine has an annoying hiccup. Some system process is causing spikes in CPU using which you experience as a pause, hiccup or hang. Would be interesting to know if other users have had this problem.

Very useful write up - thanks!
