The CPU is not “supported” but you can by-pass the hardware check and it works fine. We use this exact model at work and I’ve upgraded more than 5 to Win11 pro 64.
It looks like you can, but you might run into some instability. These are older posts and some are about Ubuntu, but the last one is a workaround someone used for Debian 10. I hope this is of some use to you, I am no longer the Linux user I once was. English Community-Lenovo Community
Are these refurbished corporate business units? New? Old?
Condition: Refurbished
(Please note: I don’t work for Woot, I just volunteer to help out here on the forums.)
Will this run ROBLOX or MINECRAFT?
Honestly, if you need a computer to search the web or to run some type of service, this isn’t a bad deal. 16GB is more than enough for Chrome, 512GB is enough for anything you need installed, and the CPU is decent. Slap this on the back of a monitor using double sided tape and you have a small computer that can be stored anywhere. I bet with a bit of wire management, you can get everything into one portable unit.
I recently Wooted a couple of the HP Elite PCs of this form factor ( HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini PC, Intel Core i5-6500T ) that perform very well.
They pop up on here for about the same price from time to time.
You can also get them from the mothership for a bit more $$$.
“Perform very well” doing what exactly, with those models???
I would guess anything that doesn’t require a dedicated GPU. At work we have a few of those HP models with Skylake (6xxx) series CPUs and they are solid workhorse machines, great for what we use them for (listing products on Amazon and eBay, general office stuff, Quickbooks Desktop software, printing labels, etc). Honestly these days anything Haswell (4xxx series) or newer is good enough for the vast majority of daily use both at home and at a business. If your needs include gaming, 3D modeling, AI/ML, and similar, you’re likely to already have sufficient hardware for that and wouldn’t consider one of these anyway.
They also make great headless servers for simple projects like a media/file server, Minecraft server, gateway or router (with an added USB3 Gigabit adapter), PiHole/DNS server, etc.
So…I buy this computer to sell MORE COMPUTERS? Brilliant!
Seems like a good deal. Will watch for it to come around again.
