I bought two of these one month ago. They were not available on Amazon or retailers, but I wanted this model because of the relatively powerful processor.

I bought it from Lenovo USA, paid $350 each for two.

This woot does not make me yell woot.

How large is the hard drive?

are these chrome books actually good? im considering it for my mother, who has an outdated and failing dell laptop

Um…16GB, it’s in the post title

Be very, very careful with your warranty begin date on this. I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad last year that came with a 1-yr warranty. I had a problem with it 11 months later and needed a warranty repair. Come to find out, the warranty date began when the vendor on Woot purchased it from Lenovo, NOT when I bought it from Woot. I only had a 10-month warranty.

It took many emails and phone calls to straighten things out but Lenovo customer service eventually granted me the correct warranty expiration date. However, it was a major hassle. Buyer beware.

Would this be good for editing pictures?

Everything should be good on this chromebook except the display isn’t the best (almost bad). But that price is crazy good considering these just came out less than a year ago. I have the 1080p version of this and it performs just fine. I think the reason these are so cheap is that no one is buying these lesser displays, if you think your mom wouldn’t care about display quality, this is a steal in my opinion.

This is tempting. I’d be in for 2 if it was about $150. For this price, I’d like to see 32gb HD.

From what I’ve seen, you can upgrade the memory and the ssd. Instructions are easily found online.

I dont think chromebooks have hard drives

Other than the price being higher, are you happy with the product?

So, not an IPS display, then? After my Toshiba Chromebook 2, I don’t think I can go back to non-IPS.

Looking for 4GB or more RAM, IPS display, and backlight keyboard – this one is 1 for 3.

It says this in the list of key features:

“eMMC 16GB solid state drive for an amazingly smooth and fast computing experience”

I did a cursory look on the interwebs and saw that the ssd is upgradeable. Has anyone seen if it is possible to dual boot this with windows 10? I would love to use this as a travel laptop that allows me to vpn into work. The cursory look did not yield any results.

same one on Amazon for $199 I believe: https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-13-Chromebook-Celeron/dp/B01HBJ60ME

What is she using it for? This is not a Windows machine. For email, web surfing, watching movies and light writing, it’s fine. And there are many apps that work offline now.

There are image editing suites available for ChromeOS, such as Pixlr or Sumo Paint, but you’re never going to get the same experience with them that you do from working with an actual desktop PC and the Adobe suite. If photo editing is going to be your main focus, I’d suggest you pass on the Chromebook for now and steer towards an actual desktop or laptop machine.

I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad 11 about 9 months ago, not Chromebook, so I can’t comment on that. BUT I have nothing but problems and Service from Lenovo is NON-EXISTANT!!! YOU’LL NEVER GET IT FIXED!!
