Used to have thinkpads back when they were IBM - they were really great machines back then - not sure how they rank under the rebrand… could be great, could be crap

Lenovo was their Chinese manufacturer when they were IBM Thinkpads.

Just like most of the big names, you get what you pay for. A $2500 Lenovo is an awesome machine, a $400 model, not so much… but still better than a $400 HP.

My company used them when they were the T-20 to T-30 series - they were really durable back then

I bought one in a previous woot off. I love it for normal day to day internet surfing.

For this price, this is a pretty darn good laptop. I have had very good luck with Lenovo’s

No HDMI??

1280 x 800 resolution. Why bother with HDMI?

The low res on a 14 inch screen is a deal killer for me.

Be careful, the title says it has a 520M processor and the body of the Specs says it’s a 560M (faster).

if i wanted a FIVE pound laptop, this would be it for $300.

I can generally find something to complain about, and while this is no exception it’s a really minor issue. No discreet video is bad news, but I love the SSD. Also, I usually council against ripping open laptops but this one is another exception. Tear out the optical drive an replace it with a fast, lrg-cap, HDD.

This machine has good bones and if you’re not looking to play the latest games, then it’s a great deal.

really tho, i had a five pound laptop with my last employer, it was great cause i always was looking for a place to set it down when i was walking to another meeting or from a meeting. it usually meant that i stopped at the coffee station and rested my arm there for awhile. which led to the restroom. which led to my cubie. which meant that i needed another cup of coffee cause it was time again for another meeting. repeat…

My Sager NP9150 is a brick, weighs 7 lbs easy. Man up, already.

Next up: Bandoleer of Carrots?

I see the basic same deal at egghead for $295. They have win 7 home premium. This one says win 7 professional. For a $5 difference, is it better to have Pro?
