how does this compare to the new E480, considering their similar price range?
Maybe someone will get my busted up one I just returned from the last computer.woot offer.
The laptop was clunking around in the box when it arrived, I opened it up, and it looked like some one wiped the keyboard with a bleach wipe and let it dry all white and crusty… at least that’s what the mature mind would think. To top it off it looked like some one then used the screen to eat peanuts off it, because it was terribly coated with what looked like that red skin stuff around the peanut. I proceeded to inspect, It also had a 1 inch crack above the charging port… then finally onto the white out spot on the screen after powering it on. It looked as if it were poked by something and left a white distorted spot permanently right in the middle of the screen.
Needless to say CS was contacted. They told me they couldn’t replace it as of last week… Hmm🤔 but could give me a partial refund to attempt to fix the screen or a full refund with FREE shipping. As I debated my options I noticed two screws missing from some port and I was like Newp! Someone else’s junk now.
I honestly wish I could have actually used it. This site steered me away from refurb and towards new and pricey. Woot!
thanks for your input. i think i will keep my options clear from refurbs.
First rule: only buy “A” Grade refurb laptops and A or B Grade desktops.I don’t see any grading on woot.friend of mine has a dealer account with arrow direct 30 day no questions asked,1yr functional warranty. same laptop is $262 “A” Grade… RUN from this so called woot deal.
The UPS driver must have ran over it a few times then used it to beat on someone. The Lenovo T series are built like a tank. Rattling around in the box, should not have caused that type of damage. I only buy Lenovos because they are built so well. I am tempted to buy this - just because.
I have purchased a few lenovos, dells, hp’s from woot’s refurbished and have been satisfied. Other than one clunker that went back without issue, all are still working fine. Saving my company a lot of money over the usual IT mantra of spending top dollar with full 3 year warrantys. You save more money by purchasing extra machines and swapping out if one fails (which is rare).
I’ve bought 5 refurbished laptops and a desktop from woot!. It’s about the only really good deal left on here anymore. 3 chromebooks, an HP, and Thinkpad (7 years old), and they are all working fine.
I just bought this same 450 a few weeks back for my wife, but it wasn’t a refurb. I wish I had bought 2 of them now.
Unless there is the option of purchasing an extended warranty, buying anything refurbished is a gamble. There’s a reason the initial purchaser sent the product back and refused a repair. This is specifically if purchasing sight unseen. I have purchased refurbs locally, when it became clear that the item was new and brown boxed because it was an older model, closed out by the manufacturer.I’m writing this on a Lenovo T420 that was purchased locally as a refurb, but was clearly new and came with a full Lenovo warranty. The price on new late model i5 laptops has dropped so radically in the prior year that unless the deal on a refurb is “beyond belief” and you can buy an extended long term warranty inexpensively, I’d avoid a refurb!
I have never bought anything electronic from this site except for a soundbar for my UHDTV 4K. It was a wireless bluetooth soundbar or fiber optic wire included. I couldn’t get it to work at all. I contacted Woot and they sent a UPS pick-up order and issued full credit upon receipt. I have also ordered a set of 4 luxury bath sheets which has been delivered. I am not at home until Tuesday but I know where the package safely is. I received an email from Woot telling me that the wrong color was originally sent and that they were sending the correct color. They told me to keep both sets for the price of one. Good and bad with this site.

Ever hear of leased returns?
We have several 450s units in production at work. They are solid laptops. My only complaint is the Touch Screen ones we have make the screen look like shit. This is like rev1 touch screen technology that lays a thick plastic sheet over the screen. Awful.
Curious what people think about this being the same price as the refurb MacBook Air over in the computer site/page. Even with it being a 2015 model, that’s what I chose. But, then again, I prefer Macs.
I use a couple of used Acer Cloudbooks that cost (used) $79.95 each and were made in 2016.
Total cost by using Fedora Linux workstation and Fedora Linux Creative Suite: $79.95 for each computer and $0 for everything else. But then again, I prefer Linux.
Indeed, I have. Have you ever seen what a 48 month leased return usually looks like?
I purchased this same deal about two weeks ago and the ThinkPad T450s that arrived looked almost brand new. I do wish the T450s screen would fold all the way back like a convertible tablet which would make the touch screen far more usable, but I’m still very pleased with my purchase.
