Tents are expensive. This one in particular looks like it’s high quality and a quick Google lookup suggests that its original price isn’t too far out of line.
Yeah they’re expensive, but I have to say I agree with the guy- this one is REALLY expensive. You can get a Coleman of the same size with what looks like better features for about $200. I’m curious to know what else you’re getting with this one for 4x the cost…
I have the Coleman Montana 8. I use it for my family of four and has held up great for two years. At $129.99, it is a good buy.
Believes the Kelty tent is a heavier canvas material, which explains a lot about the price. You could practically take this tent to Alaska and move in for the year. It’s that kind of tent.
Heavier is right. 40lbs for a tent, that according to the review leaks like a sieve?! Find a couple used Mountain Hardwear Trango 4s and call it a day. Then you really could live in Alaska for a year, or Everest base camp, or Patagonia, or, well, you get the idea.
Slumberjack 2 Person Trail Tent - This is a great tent. I’ve used mine in an unexpected heavy wet snow on a weekend camping trip. The tent performed better than expected. I’ve also taken the tent on a weekend 30 mile over night hike. Even though the tent weighs a bit over 5 lbs I didn’t know I had it in my pack. The free standing setup is makes life easy as well. You can probably save some weight by having custom aluminum tent poles made, in my opinion it would be well worth the investment.
Absolute ripoff for a 3-season sleeping bag.
A 0° bag can be had for the same cost. Straight up robbery especially since its synthetic.
I’ve owned the Slumberjack 2 person for 3 years now. I’ve taken it from the mountains to the beach in North Carolina. Camping by the lake in a huge storm, it was the only tent that stayed dry inside. Also incredibly easy to set up.
