Total novice here, but is this something that would help stream movies from Amazon Prime to our TV or devices? Right now the movies are choppy assumingly because the speed isn’t there. I’ve been avoiding an “upgrade” from our cable/internet provider because I refuse to give them any more money.
And does it come with reasonably easy instructions so we can set it up ourselves? Neither of us are what I would call IT savvy.
this blue router is supposed to be a successor to the legendary WRT54GL. i don’t know a ton about it, but i believe they put some beefy hardware in it, and made sure to support open source custom firmware. whether that’s actually necessary for most people is another question entirely.
if you are using wifi on all of the devices you use to stream video, and your router is on old wifi tech, then upgrading to this router might help. however, there is no way to know for sure without knowing a lot more about your internet service.
as far as setting it up, it should be no problem. they’re usually plug and play these days, aside from setting up the wifi ssid and password.
Did you even look at the picture, not the same router. EA6900 vs WRT1900AC … just from the description online on Amazon the one here on Woot has e-SATA. According the amazon the on on woot has data transfer rate of 1900mbps, the EA6900 has 1300.
