For anyone who’s not sure what this is:
This is a Lutron Caseta bridge. Caseta is a line of moderately high end smart switches and other devices. This is a bridge between a wired/wireless network and the devices. A second one can be configured onto an existing setup for longer range.
Edit: Due to the obscurity of the model number, it’s unclear if this one supports a wired Ethernet connection. I only see a single MAC ID on the sticker.
Good catch. I have older Lutron dimmers and switches in my home (love them), but I’m wary of their IoT stuff. Recently got a Hue Bridge here and love their two wireless dimmer/switch combos.
I love Caseta. There are much cheaper smart devices out there, but I’m wary of Chinese IoT devices. All my IoT devices are network isolated and firewalled, but I’d still rather go with Caseta. They’re not cheap, but I’ve also never had one fail on me.
I’m thinking of installing some Hue devices, but I’m dragging my feet over the initial investment. Some Hue devices have eye watering pricetags. For hardwired stuff like ceiling lights, in addition to the cost of Hue lighting and a bridge, I’ll also have to remove the Caseta switches and put in one of the Hue compatible wall switch options that costs about the same. I’m not looking forward to that.
