Got one of these a while ago.

It worked ok until I was using it to guide me somewhere I had not been. Then it froze up, while I was driving.

I had no clue until I noticed that I had the same distance to the next turn for quite a while.

Then I had to pull off, hit the reset with a bent paperclip, and wait until it found the satellites.

Then I had to go back to find the turns I had missed, while it was frozen.

Don’t know what was “refurbished”, but this isn’t the device to trust unless you have a lot of extra time, when you use it.

I assume it only happened once? The on thing I like in a stand alone gps unit is if you leave it plugged in, it shuts off when you shut off the car. When you start the car, the gps unit powers back up.

Poor reviews on Amazon; anyone have a positive experience with this unit?

Is woot only selling refurb items now? Jeez… everything refurb; and I’ve gotten too many stinkers over the years due to woot refurbs (DVD Player, CD Drive, Dyson Vacuum, MP3 Player… let me look at my signature and see what else too.) Edit (oh and the AOC monitor too. Not everything in my signature was a refurb, but a good majority of the ones that were all eventually had problems. No more refurbs for me.)

It says it will switch automatically to back up camera when you switch into reverse,

But that would require a backup camera and I don’t have one.

Any info on how to get a suitable backup camera?

I’m not familiar with the Magellan software. This seems to have tons of feature, I’m wondering if anyone knows about TV clearance feature? I know some GPSn units have this.

I’d also second the backup cam question. Is it a standard compatibility, only a single camera type, or any Magellan rear-view camera.

The dashcam on these sucks. Even when it works (which won’t be for long), it records just continuous footage and you get very low record time.

Wouldn’t that depend on the size of the SD card? The manual says you can manually stop recording and lock recorded clips and that the Auto Record is the default setting. (so there must be other record settings?) Otherwise it will record until the card is full then it will record over the oldest clips. It will automatically freeze (save) clips where the device detects shock over 2 Gs. (car crash)

Probably this one:

but, it has a 2.5mm AV Input for the backup camera. So anything camera you can plug into that should work. The manual mentions you might need an adapter for non-Magellan cameras to work.

Bought 3, had to return 1. :frowning:

I felt the unit get very hot, make a sizzling noise, and then go dark ( cue the taps )

Can these units have a heart attack?

So far, the other 2 work OK.

The Magellan models that I’ve owned over the years have proven to be the most reliable and accurate GPS systems.
