Soooo…how does the HRM part work? For the extra $, you’d think that there would be a description. Maybe I missed it, but not in the specs or other logical spot. Is this an ANT+ chest transmitter? BTLE? Optical sensor on the watch? Something else?

3 star rating at Amazon, but the1 star ratings are consistent and tell the story of less than stellar battery life and sync issues:

I believe you need a separate HRM that works with your phone (or app running on your phone) and that info is sent from your phone to the watch display.

According to their product page, it’s a Bluetooth LE Heart rate chest strap:

Gooood question. The buyer has added photos and more info on that heart rate monitor. PS: the chest strap works via Bluetooth

I have their older model with no sleep and steps tracking.
The Bluetooth hrm is connected to your smartphone via BLE and the watch is actually an external display for the fitness app that runs on the phone (I use wahoo). So the watch does NOT connect directly to the hrm. Both devices are connected to the phone which gets the day from the hrm and sends it to the watch. Hope this is helpful.

One more comment: please note that this is not their “fit” model which counts steps and records your sleep. I personally would not get that watch and wait for a good deal on the echo fit…
