Backed the KS for this years ago, and use it all the time. It’s great – accurate, has lots of options, and very easy to use. I wish the bluetooth range was a little stronger so I could relax on the living room couch while my stuff cooks, but that’s basically the only complaint I can think of.
It appears by the description of wireless range of 10 meters ie 33ft, that this is the original model which is in the mothership for 70$
The newer model with 165 ft range is 99$, but THIS is NOT THAT….
Details…. Details….
Very sneaky
Actually this appears to be the newer, longer range model.
The old one is called “Meater”
The new one is called “Meater +”
This sale is the Meater +, not the original Meater.
Yes, it’s the bamboo charging dock acts as a repeater. So it would seem that the probe has to be within 10m of that, and then the case will repeat the signal an additional ~130ft. Clever.
They appear to have an answer for that: https://meater.com/blog/bluetooth-vs-wifi-vs-cloud-wireless-connectivity/
Thanks for that info, I didn’t know it could bridge to Wi-Fi too! That been my biggest complaint about my current Bluetooth ones is the limited Bluetooth range means I lose signal sometimes. I’ll probably snag one of these now I know that. Thanks!
Brilliant. I had no idea this was possible. Used mine yesterday for a brisket and had to leave the house for a while and wanted to monitor it while I was out.
I hope the range is better because the original is terrible if it’s inside a metal smoker, which sort of defeats the purpose. Eventually bound the sensor to an old device that I can leave near the smoker and use the bridge mode so I can keep track on my phone.
This is a great tool if you are an avid griller/smoker and want a high quality product that doesn’t skip a beat. Just make sure to keep it clean and don’t use abrasion sponges on the probe end (where Bluetooth mechanism is located).
Cooking times are extremely accurate as it also gives you estimated finish time which has been really convenient when you are cooking and have company!
Getting a second one here on woot so I can smoke and grill and roast meats all at the same time!
i already have a flame boss, and while it’s not wireless, that’s not really important unless you’re doing rotisserie. Does this do anything the flame boss won’t?
I received one for Christmas and have just used the Bluetooth and haven’t had any issues with staying connected in the house. I don’t think it would stay connected if I am in front of our home. Next time I use it I’m going to try wifi. The nice part is that it connects to the phone when taken out of the charger and you don’t need to go through extra steps to connect it. Before this I used the Weber iGrill and would lose connection continuously. I think I’m going to buy a couple of these and give as gifts
I do this too. I place an old device near the smoker and connect to wifi. They have the one with the wifi hub but it’s too spen9for me.
Woot has had this cheaper. I bought 2. In general this is a thumbs up for me.
Finally. I’ve been looking everyday since November for this to come back. Thank you.
