I have this bird feeder in my backyard. It’s not squirrel proof unless you put it on a shepherd’s hook. And grease the hook with spray lubricant.
Now the birds come for the buffet each day and the squirrels are relegated to the droppings on the ground.
I win.
The squirrels in my yard can climb the shepherds pole then they hang ypside down to knock everything on the ground.
Spray lubricant my friend, spray lubricant.
An old fashioned metal slinky zip tied to the shepherd’s hook will deter the squirrels and provide hilarious entertainment as they climb up and slide back down. I saw one squirrel try it many times, then he finally did a standing jump from the ground up 5 ft, clinging to the bottom of the feeder, reaching in for seeds. Plastic bird spikes on the bottom of the feeder cured that.
Friggin squirrels…
But I have defeated them!
I made my own bird feeder pole by putting pvc pipe into concrete inside a nice big flower pot, then inserting iron pipe with a thread at the top, then an iron elbow with another short run of iron pipe. Then I put a squirrel baffle in the bottom with a run of dryer vent duct mounted just over it.
It’s been there for 2 years, and I get nothing but a ton of birds on it.
Now… how to defeat the blue jays…

Do you have a picture of it?
Friggin Blue Jays bane of my existence when I kept bees they peck on the hives and eat the “flying gumballs” that came out now they just aggravate me for no reason.
