I already have one of these and so far it’s a great lock, but I’ve heard that you need to change the batteries once a month or else the motor may not have enough power to unlock when you use a remote or code and you’ll have to use a key.

If that’s true, no go for me. I have two Schlage electronic combo locks, one deadbolt and one latch handle version and the 9V battery lasts for 2+ years. They use a motorized latch engagement that doesn’t actually turn the deadbolt but instead free spins when not engaged, which requires less power from the battery then the other types that actually turn the deadbolt for you.

I bought one of these from Woot a while back and have removed it. It works fine, but the one I have eats batteries. Sometimes, depending on how much it was used, it seemed I was replacing them every other week. So, I’m back to my old key lock. Too bad, as it’s very convenient, but I ended up using the key many times to open it.

Deadbolt here and love it. Was worried about a power failure and the garage. Refuse to give. Out house keys. Even my wife. Had mine keyed to my business and never told my partners in a worst case scenario event. Class 3 I think mine is.

The batteries will last over a year if you use a quality brand of batteries.
