ahhhh duhhh like any normal 5.1 system…like the pioneer one we have…each speaker hooks into the reciever with speaker wire…ok now i feel real dumb. but yeah i was confused because of the system i got through woot from Jaton that i mentioned previously. you send 3 analog stereo channels to the sub (center/sub, left/right, surround left/surround right) and then the sub sends the audio to all the speakers using speaker wire.
I doubt the mounting brackets are actually connected to the speakers until you decide to use them. The speakers are pretty small (approx 6x4x4), so you’re probably looking at a 4x4 surface area to attach to the stands. They would fit on my stands, but YMMV.
For those of you who don’t know how surround sound works, the processing is done by the amp/receiver NOT the speakers. So, the inputs on the speakers will not have anything special, just space for speaker wire. So, yes, you will need an amp or receiver for this surround speaker system. And just looking at it and the price, I doubt it sounds very good.
You’re seeing the back of the woofer. It only has a couple of ins and outs. Each speaker has it’s own wires. GOT IT!!! Ya gotta have a seperate amp for this setup. I hope this clears this up for you… geeeeessshhh
MTX isn’t a bad brand…they have some low end stuff, and some decent stuff too. This kinda looks like middle of the road. Worth the money…probably, if it’s what you’re looking for. As good as Onkyo, Yamaha, etc…probably not.
I spent the evening looking at 5.1 speaker systems at BestBuy.com (i know…you can find anything cheaper online, but I have gift certificates), then this comes up…i can’t decide if this is fate or if this is crap.
Not necessarily. The lower frequencies are both heard and felt in a Home Theater System. For example, when watching a movie where there is a loud explosion. Components of the audio are often below 50 Hz in cases such as this.
The naysayers aside, I am running this same system with my 60 inch Sony HiDef TV and it sounds great. Some how folks think spending more on speakers makes them sound better…
