Mine came used (With an Amazon LPN sticker on it) and all beat up and messed up in the box.

Yeah, whoever took this back into inventory was not paying a lot of attention, the box was pretty trashed. That said, as best as I could tell, the system was working ok. Trakball is a little flaky but better after the firmware update (which sounds to be pretty common), so I’m hoping whoever returned it just didn’t like it.
I ended up just taking a partial refund instead of rolling the dice on a return/exchange. Hopefully it was the right decision…!
