I am just here for the comments
I don’t think any of these will work with Windows 11, and Windows 10 goes end of support next year. Guess there is always Linux.

Ditto. Lots of folks were bashing the last mystery computer deal. It was somewhat entertaining.
WordPerfect
The big stoppers for Windows 11 are an intel processor older than 8th generation (not sure what the cutoff for AMD is) and TPM below 2.0. Neither of these should be critical differentiators for home consumers, but Microsoft is gonna Microsoft. (One of the arguments they used for limiting it to higher end processors is that they get 56% less system exceptions on faster CPUs. Good god, the only way that makes sense is if the faster speeds are better at masking race conditions; not something I’d proudly boast about in my flagship product.)
Anyway, there are registry settings you can adjust to get around both requirements. Microsoft does not promise they’ll work forever. They’re very googlable.
Wait, they’re charging for e-waste now? Maybe it comes with Visicalc.
It’s very easy to bypass the checks and upgrade to Windows 11 from a USB drive. It’s a fairly easy tbh f to do on October 13, 2025. As of right now Microsoft doesn’t make it too terribly hard to do.
The showstopper for me here is the RAM and storage space. It’s not really worth it. That and I already have 17 other machines.
17 other devices hit me right in the feels… if im only counting physical and not virtual machines ![]()
Quattro pro?
We bash these old mystery computers, but a large percentage of desktop users use nothing more than Google Chrome and maybe a banking app.

Oh hell…
If I were building a box to only run batocera for consoles up to PS1/N64 and I wanted to use one of these old worlstations, what what minimum i-series Intel chip and minimum ram could it run smoothly on?
Have you seen how much memory Chrome takes? ![]()
I … don’t want to know how many computers I have here. Probably still have some old and outdated vintage stuff in the back of the garage too since I’ve been working on computers for … uh, nearly 4 decades.
