Teacher arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport

A teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator.

At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement. He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction.

“Al-Gebra is a problem for us,” the Attorney General said. “They derive
solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values.” They use secret code names like ‘X’ and ‘Y’ and refer to themselves as “unknowns”, but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, ‘There are 3 sides to every triangle’.

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, “If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes.”

White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow.

So, if women are supposed to be so much better at multi-tasking, why can’t they have a headache and sex at the same time?

A married woman was having a torrid love affair with her pest control guy. One day while with him her husband comes home early. “Quick”,says she to her lover, “into the closet!”.
Husband goes to hang up his coat and finds the exterminator.
“Who are you?”,says the husband.
"I’m the exterminator and I’m checking for a moth infestation"the exterminator replies.
“How come you are naked?” husband asks.
The exterminator looks down, his eyes widening, “Those bastards!”

An updated version of Who’s On First…

You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello , and not too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on…

If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, ‘Who’s on First?’ might have turned out something like this:

COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT

ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you?

COSTELLO : Thanks. I’m setting up an office in my den and I’m thinking about buying a computer.

ABBOTT : Mac?

COSTELLO : No, the name’s Lou .?

ABBOTT : Your computer?

COSTELLO : I don’t own a computer. I want to buy one.

ABBOTT : Mac?

COSTELLO: I told you, my name’s Lou .

ABBOTT : What about Windows?

COSTELLO : Why? Will it get stuffy in here??

ABBOTT : Do you want a computer with Windows?

COSTELLO : I don’t know. What will I see when I look at the windows?

ABBOTT : Wallpaper.

COSTELLO : Never mind the windows. I need a computer and software.?

ABBOTT : Software for Windows?

COSTELLO : No. On the computer! I need something I can use to write proposals, track expenses and run my business. What do you have?

ABBOTT : Office.

COSTELLO: Yeah, for my office. Can you recommend anything??

ABBOTT : I just did.

COSTELLO : You just did what?

ABBOTT : Recommend something.

COSTELLO : You recommended something ?

ABBOTT : Yes.

COSTELLO : For my office??

ABBOTT : Yes.

COSTELLO : OK, what did you recommend for my office?

ABBOTT : Office.

COSTELLO : Yes, for my office!

ABBOTT : I recommend Office with Windows.

COSTELLO : I already have an office with windows! OK, let’s just say I’m sitting at my computer and I want to type a proposal. ?What do I need??

ABBOTT : Word.

COSTELLO : What word?

ABBOTT : Word in Office.

COSTELLO : The only word in office is office.

ABBOTT : The Word in Office for Windows.

COSTELLO : Which word in office for windows??

ABBOTT : The Word you get when you click the blue ‘W’.

COSTELLO : I’m going to click your blue ‘w’ if you don’t start with some straight answers. What about financial bookkeeping? You have anything I can track my money with??

ABBOTT: Money.

COSTELLO : That’s right. What do you have?

ABBOTT : Money.

COSTELLO : I need money to track my money?

ABBOTT : It comes bundled with your computer.

COSTELLO : What’s bundled with my computer??

ABBOTT : Money.

COSTELLO : Money comes with my computer?

ABBOTT : Yes. No extra charge.

COSTELLO : I get a bundle of money with my computer? How much?

ABBOTT : One copy.

COSTELLO : Isn’t it illegal to copy money??

ABBOTT : Microsoft gave us a license to copy Money.

COSTELLO : They can give you a license to copy money?

ABBOTT : Why not? THEY OWN IT!

(A few days later)

ABBOTT : Super Duper computer store. Can I help you??

COSTELLO : How do I turn my computer off?

ABBOTT : Click on ‘START’…

May I suggest an addition? –

“Apple?”

“No, I’m not hungry, but anyway, how would you get it to me?”

I’d like suggestions please.

This is a recipe targeted to me by Google this evening. When I look at the picture all I can think of is Jeffrey Dahmer but I can’t even imagine what body part.

I’ll take any ideas at all.

Catching up on some old reading?

Nope, just another dead synapse of mine. (I’m too new here to have any “old reading to catch up on.”)

My lame excuse  : I was confronted with that photograph and had to share it with someone, anyone! Searching threads for “targeted advertising” (because I wanted to help keep the forum streamlined) I landed on a related post, a post that was immediately followed by other related posts, I scribbled. I published. I saw a quick Reply!

I’ll keep looking for a suitable existing thread :thread: and try to move my post there.

{{I am separately keeping up on old reading, including today a 1974 bestseller, but that’s a whole other story.}}

Go ahead and revive this thread. Let’s see what happens.
