It’s a toaster.
What other use is it? External HDD?
So, even while connected to the network, it won’t work with Macs?

looks like the failing is in the software.
LAME! why would it not work with mac? me no comprehend…
WOW. This is a great deal… I’ve been wanting one with network connection but they were too high. You can’t get two 250GB HDDS for this.
Um, I’m using with my Mac as we speak!
It’s just an external HD. Good price!
I realize I will likely be flamed for this, but here it goes:
Does it work with Mac?
egg-actly what i wanted. great network backup solution for all the office computers at my little shop. i’ve had a drive failure or two in the past, and this will prevent data loss, when i get it configured properly. n4one
Don’t need any, but couldn’t you just drop these drives in your PC? Sounds like the 2 250Meg drives are included. $30 a drive or so ain’t bad.
WOW horrible review on neweggs. I almost pulled trigger. Thanks to add the neweggs review link.
Worth the price to purchase and tear out the two hdds to add some life to an older system.
Fair warning to anyone that is thinking about purchasing this product. I have had one of these NAS by Netgear for a couple of years and when it crashed I lost ALL of the data on the drives because it is written in a proprietary language. If you reinstall the software you will lose everything that is stored as well.
Dang. That’s the first item I’ve ever seen ‘deactivated’ on Newegg, and I’ve been around there for 3-4 years now. I think I’d avoid this one, unless you were going to just pull the Hard Drives out of there and remount them internally.
Swordsman:
I need additional storage for my macbook pro. Are they gonna get along okay?
Crap reviews at epinions
What would make it incompatible with the MAC is the Backup Software… Doh… I would not use that software anyway.
Can the harddrives be removed from the enclosure and used as standard IDE harddrives? Would be quite a bit cheaper than buying a single 500GB or dual 250GB drives.
