This is a good modem and good deal, i have the cm1000. But why would a 2gbps modem not have 2.5gbps ports is beyond me. Definitely do not get this if you have higher than a 1gbps connection because it will be pointless. Just get the cm1000

Edit: seeing as the cm1000 is still 160 and the 1200 is 210 normally just get this, this is a steal

A better deal might be the Netgear C6250 AC1600 Modem Router Combo frequently sold here for $60. Yes, cable modem AND router.
Granted, the Nighthawk is DOCSIS 3.1 and the C6250 is 3.0 (same as most ISPs will rent you). And the C6250 only has 2 gigabyte ports vs 4 on the Nighthawk. Jeez, how much “power” do you really need?

Docsis 3.0 is basically considered end of life for most ISPs. Anyway I always recommend people buy the separate devices:
Modem firmware is controlled by your ISP, router firmware is not. In fact most ISP will never update the modem, except comcast. There are several popular third party router firmwares available (but not on combos).
Modems are basically only replaced due to failure or total obsolescence (too slow for connection). But there are lots of reasons you might replace router: new wifi tech, more storage devices, streaming or vpn features etc.
Cheaper/easier to replace one or the other if needed (imo)

Anyway the most important thing is your ISP recommended modem list. And the cm1000 and cm1200 are on almost all of them.
