Would work for small lawns. The 14 inch cutting path (would take me a day to cut my yard) and the under an hour cutting time limits its use. Also, I bet as you near the end of the charge the performance drops in a big way
I don’t really think most people are buying this simply to be environmentally conscious. The ease of use, the lack of gas and oil to fill, and the general cleanliness of this mower are the primary incentives.

Um… if the battery is 10 amp-hour, and the motor is 21 amps, how do you get 45 to 60 minutes? Do the math!
Yes, the batery is a 10AH. And, the motor is a 21 amp.
Means that if you run the motor full out, it will drain the battery in a bit “less than a half-hour.”
Now, mowing the lawn isn’t going to strain the motor at 100% all the time, so you get more time than “less than a half-hour.”
And, this is a sealed lead/acid battery, just like the one in your car. If you charge it too fast, it would leak, except it’s sealed. Let’s just say that you don’t want to exceed the recommended charging rate.

Typically, the motor rating is under full load or the most that the motor can handle without overloading. Above a 21 amp load the breaker should trip.
Normal use doesn’t mean full load. If the grass isn’t very thick the amperage will be less than the maximum.

I tried a battery-run mower and went back to a corded electric one. Lower maintenance and the mower’s much lighter. You can get a corded mower for around $125 at Wal-Mart. If you use an electric mower regularly, you learn how to manage the cord to the point where it’s not something you even consciously notice anymore.
I second that… I had 30 days to return it and based on the price of batteries and having to charge them for short periods of mowing I gave the corded a try and love it.
The cord is just like doing anything…takes a few times to get use to it but after some time it’s not a big deal.

Ok, I read the woot specs, and went to the product page. No-where does it tell you what the actual horsepower this mower has. Does anyone know? How can I compare performance with my existing mower without comparable specifications?
About 2/3 horsepower.
See Google Search
And while we’re at it,
one bushel is a little over 35 litre.
and the tip of the blade runs 85 m/s
All these silly US units…
& what would likely matter more would be the torque, which should be pretty good with an electric motor. I’m actually a bit tempted.
Though I do wonder if it will take the abuse my gas mower has.

Just don’t buy it if your only goal is to save the environment.
I couldn’t agree more with that statement. I bought an electric because I hate running out of gas while cutting. I don’t like doing oil changes on a lawn mower (then driving to the landfill to dispose of the oil) and I like the fact that it’s quiet enough where I don’t have to crank my volume up on my headphones to drown out the sound. It’s light and folds into the corner of my garage and I can use the trimmer attachment to get the edges faster than my Grasshog.
None of those reasons has anything to do with being enviornmentally friendly. That’s just a side effect to me.

It is capable of pulling 21 amps maximum. But it wouldn’t be running at maximum the whole time. Just like your car might have 200 HP peak but you don’t floor it all the time.
My bad…somebody already answered this!
Where do you find 32A?
Specs say:
■Motor: 24-volt, 21-amp permanent magnet electric motor
Poor woot is not getting their yugster kickback… Errr… Affiliate marketing proceeds…
Anyone else click on the “yugster” ad on the front page? I did. And I got:

Don’t forget the flywheel effect that conserves the energy and the centrifugal force that does most of the cutting.
21 amps would be at full load FLA @ 24VDC
I think the previous poster skipped Electrical Properties and Physics.
I wish this came with an converter so you could mow with a cord. I like electic mowers but that feature would probably double the price of the mower.
I am really excited to hear all these positive attributes for this lawnmower! I am getting one next week…they have an exchange program here in So CA…You trade in your gas mower for a Neuton for only $100 bucks! Great Info! Thanks!
I have one more question, what if your lawn isn’t completely flat… how hard is it to push up a slight incline? I’m spoiled to self-propelled.
The company webpage says that it is 32A. I can’t say which one is correct.
Pretty Puny horses.
I seen blowers with more horses
I mean gas blowers not electric

That’s how I got mine 5 years ago and haven’t looked back.
$299.99 last year.
bought it. works fine.
leave it on charger, and there is no issues w/ battery.
blade is slightly smaller than standard, but works fine.
neighbors notice the quietness and comment on it. its fairly light.
You forgot Mr. Fusion
