(NEW) Bang & Olufsen Beosound A1 (2nd Gen) Bluetooth Speaker

Hi! why do they come in a brown box? is this a refurbished item or a showcase item, can you elaborate?

Nope, new. It’s likely they’re leftover stock for warranty replacements.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

In addition to possibly being warranty replacements, they could also be no-fuss packaging or brown box for online sales where you don’t need the pretty retail box. Saves money.

Have been thinking about these since Woot offered them last Spring.
Isn’t it almost Christmas? :christmas_tree:

With coupon this comes to just about $5 cheaper after tax (dependent on state) than they were listed for in June at $139.99

Almost $170 for a speaker a little larger than a hockey puck? Sorry not seeing it. At that size how much power could it have? How big of a battery? There just is not enough room in there. Take a lesson from a former audiophile, you are paying for the name.
In the audio world its the law of diminishing return for price. You are better off buying a decent upper middle of road product. The small difference in performance is not worth the extra money. Yes its waterproof, for those residents of atlantis or doing floodwater rescues. It might be a comfort listening to Whams wake me before I go go as You are on a roof waiting for rescue from the flood.

I would tend to agree, BUT…. I have an old Jawbone Jambox Mini, a super portable BT speaker with mic … that works as a great speakerphone. I’ve used it for meetings for the past few years, way more comfy and utilitarian than wired or wireless earbuds.

So IF this can be used as a phone speaker … it’s a bit pricey just for that, but for dual-purpose….

According to the linked specs, it can be used for speakerphone.

Love my B&O (esp. my portal headphones), but this makes Bose look cheap. And my Bose speaker is pretty darn good. Or better yet, get 2 LG speakers for $34, also waterproof. Rockin’ in my shower!

Thanks. I couldn’t remember the earlier price.
These are good quality speakers with a battery that will get 18-22 hrs/chge. (battery is replaceable)

They have good range and separation. People who love jazz, classic, vocals esp like these.
Can be paired if you get 2, easier with the app. Don’t stay paired- need to do it each time they are used.

Came out in 2020. Price may be dropping if an update coming out soon?

One caveat is that the spec sheet says this device is 2×30watts. For woofers and tweeters. I seriously doubt the battery life, if it really is 2×140 watts, as stated in product description. Seems pricey, and I’d rather buy the JBL Charge for a similar price, which had excellent bass response, build quality, and battery life.

This is a premium brand using quality metals, leather and natural materials, no plastic case or straps here.
Not like some disposable, copied and pasted blueprint tech from “questionable” countries. This is designed and engineered by a renowned company in the audio world. Look up reviews for it, people usually give it a very high rating. This is a great deal.
