How big is it?
Bought three of these, one for myself and two as gifts. Packaging was wrecked on all three. Sound is disappointing if you just have it sitting around in hopes that it sounds much better than your phone speaker. It’s a good deal LOUDER, but the sound quality isn’t inspiring at all. This is disappointing as I own other JBL clip speakers.
I did like the speaker’s performance on a mountain bike ride… the music was loud and clear to me the rider without being intrusive to others… but then the rubber mounts kept slipping and finally just fell off at one point, leaving the speaker jiggling and rattling all over the place as it clung to my handlebar for its life.
I’d pass. Barely worth the price you pay. But if you do end up getting one, make sure you glue the rubber pad to the plastic ring.
I wish I had seen your review before purchasing. I just read the Amazon reviews which were all lies.
As you mentioned the sound is disappointing for a JBL product with a $80 pointless price. In my mind, the quality is so poor it’s not worth the $25 woot price. I want expecting much for the price, but it didn’t even live up to that.
I’m returning mine.
If you want something for a small kid that doesn’t care that the speakers is only mildly better than AM radio quality, or only plan to listen to podcasts and talk radio like NPR, it’s probably a solid purchase…but if want to enjoy the music you are playing, I’d take a hard pass on this.
Bought a second after the first arrived! Mounted it to my push cart for golf and it is perfect! Yes the sound isn’t crazy good but for 25$ it’s perfect, I was pleasantly surprised with it and being on the quiet side was actually better since I’m not trying to play music for everyone to hear
Thanks for the honest review. I’m in the market for a new Bluetooth speaker for yardwork or for when BBQ. The one I have is starting to lose it’s charge. While I don’t need great sound quality, I don’t want it to sound like my iPhone speaker either. I was about to snatch one of these up, but I’ll pass.
Bought one about a month ago. We have two JBL Clips that sound amazing…the JBL Wind is a disappointment in multiple ways. Ordered because it included radio functionality, for those times when you don’t have your phone, along with Bluetooth capabilities. First off, the sound is mediocre at best for both the Bluetooth and radio. Then there is the battery life. This is about the same size as the Clip and the battery lasts half the time. What is that about? Save your money on this one.
I agree with Wooter86924472. While it is not the best sound in the world, it is more than adequate and it is great addition to my golf push cart and gives me the options of raido, bluetooth, or micro sd card (I have 64GB in it which is more than enough for multiple rounds). The speaker last more than the 4+ hrs it takes to be a week-day/weekend hacker. I plan on buying a couple more as gifts to my buddies that have asked about it.
Just mixed reviews. Some say ok, others say pretty bad. Who to believe?
I ordered one of these about a month ago…never recieved it so I inquired about it yesterday 6/22/23. Just recieved a cancelation notice today 6/23/23…wtf…woot?
Hi there. See you ordered 6/9. Sorry it didn’t ship out. In this case, it was faster to get you a refund and let you decide if you wanted to try to reorder.
Again, apologies.
Believe me. Imma bona-fide internet wag.
I bought one and received it the other day. My audio needs are simple, I like to listen to audiobooks, podcasts and old-time radio shows.
This speaker is a considerable upgrade over my phone speakers and my weak laptop sound. I also have an assortment of earbuds and headphones but I like just to set something up to play and just go on and do paperwork or cleaning or something.
I’m happy with this speaker and the FM radio is a bonus. It gets plenty loud enough for me and has clear sound.
I just ordered another one for the kitchen.
It’s not “high fidelity” but mine was fine at first but after a half hour the sound got very distorted. Even the start up sound is distorted now. I’m wondering if others are hearing what I hear from the get go and have never heard it when it sounds find. And when I say fine, I mean it’s way better than a phone speaker. Definitely decent enough in my book.
Going to get another one and hope it was just a bad unit.
I’ve owned one for almost a year. It’s louder than your phone or laptop speakers, yes. As stated in other comments, good for golf carts and biking. But if you’re looking for full sound or even anything approaching other JBL Clip products, it’s just not as good. Far better Bluetooth speakers out there.
Still, for $25 I wouldn’t blame anyone for an impulse purchase.
I also ordered this back in April when it was $27.95 and it got as far as shipping label created. Woot said sometimes they run out. So why haven’t I been refunded? That should be automatic with an explanation email when stock runs out. But also how was I allowed to even order it if there isn’t enough of them? From the reviews which I’ve read since I definitely want a refund for the item that was never sent to me in the first place.
Hi there. I’m sorry about this. In our system, it had tracking so it looked shipped and it did make it past label creation but not much further. I’m checking in with CS on the refund. I gather you already reached out to them?
Size of a fist
If you are accustomed to JBL’s usual sound quality you will be massively disappointed. These things are best used as paperweights.
I was excited about this because it’s so bike tour friendly, but the sound has little bass and sounds blown out. I guess it’s ok for the price but I won’t cry when it breaks. Love the bike clamp and SD card slot. FM is handy for news and weather.
