I have one of these, purchased elsewhere. The blades are insanely sharp when new. Despite all the warnings scattered throughout the packaging, I managed to cut myself just unboxing it. Speaking of packaging, this was packed by a ninja. If returning it requires it to be returned in the original packaging, forget it. It’s not going to happen.

I think Quality Control was taking a sick day the day mine was assembled. It seems to be wired wrong so that a safety feature works exactly opposite of what it is supposed to. When assembled properly for use, the thing will not run. I have to unlock the lid and hold it in place with one hand while holding the speed button with the other. Of the four speeds, only the fastest button works, and then only in pulse mode. So I have to hold the lid down with one hand and push the button with the other hand and keep the whole unit from dancing off the counter with the other. I’m certain someday this thing is going to kill me. Until then, it’s a decent food masher thing. I tried shredding some cheese. It recommends only using the slowest speed, but only high speed works. So while I was holding the thing together with one hand and pushing the button with the other hand, the blade became unbalanced, twisted the lid out of my hand, and broke a small plastic piece; but I still have all my fingers.

The small jars for individual servings are kinda cool and so far they haven’t tried to kill me.

Oh, and it’s loud.

Edit: upon further review, it appears I have a slightly different model. I’m sure the one offered here is not a psychotic killer.

Agree on this point, i cut myself just about to the bone washing this thing, through a sponge and my thumb before i knew what was happening.
Also agree that it’s loud.

Aside from that, you obviously got a defective one, return it. Mine works great on all settings, and only runs when the top is properly closed. Despite the noise, I’m glad i bought this (can’t speak to the refurbished quality, got mine new)

Almost blew soda through my nose.

I know that the unit is Factory Refurbished - but what is refurbished?

Is the motor/base refurbished and the blades/pitchers new, or can any part be refurbished?

We don’t have particulars on what is done and it will vary from unit to unit.

A “factory reconditioned” item was returned, inspected, and restored to fully working condition by the original manufacturer or a certified partner. And the original manufacturer stands behind it with a warranty. It’s as close to new as you can get without technically being “new”.

This is an awesome set. I have had mine for over 3 years and works like a charm.
Makes very short work of ice cubes or frozen fruit when making frozen drinks or smoothies.
Beats the heck out of the $200+ dollar blender my ex just had to have.

I’m a little late on this, but does anyone know if this will blend kale so finely that it’s unrecognizable in a smoothie? If so, I might have found my sister’s Christmas gift!

Yes and YES! I don’t have this model, but my Ninja set is the best damn thing I ever bought for my kitchen.

Many thanks! Now I just have to decide if I’m buying one or two.

The answer is TWO! You’ll be so jealous of your sister if you don’t get one for yourself.
