How do people feel about factory reconditioned? Does this mean it was broken at one time?
I feel good about them, personally. Factory Reconditioned means the manufacturer made any repairs and has tested everything to be sure it’s in good working condition. It’s about the best way to get as close to new as possible, without necessarily paying the “new” price.
I purchased a factory reconditioned iPad from Woot about a year ago and it has been great, no problems at all.
I have had a mixed bag with refurbs at Woot - two Seagate hard drives are still going strong seven years later, but an iPod Touch I bought was a mess and failed completely within a month of receipt.
I have had great experiences with factory refurbs. Our Dyson Vacuum, Ninja, and a few laptops we have are all refurbs purchased from Woot!. As said by the previous posters, the manufacturer can bring them back to like new condition. (I have had especially good luck with lenovo factory refurbs) Refurbs by 3rd parties, however, no way!
It could mean previously broken. Many times it meant a customer returned it after a couple days because they wanted something else. They just can’t resell as new.
I have purchased a number of refurbished products from Woot (including ordering this Ninja). I have found in many cases that the refurbs last longer than the new because they seem to be better tested before they are released for sale… at least the products that I have purchased seem that way…
