Kind of misleading to put the list price at $499 when this sold everywhere for $299.

Reviews over at Walmart

Yeah, I was thinking about insta-buying this until I saw that the price+shipping is only $15 cheaper than retail.

Cool, 7 dollars cheaper than with a 10% walmart discount plus tax!

Where does this sell for $499.99? Even when the Wii U first came out I don’t think it even came close to that amount. Xbox One’s and PS4’s don’t even sell for that much.

Not even in Canada.

Even Nintendo’s own site lists MSRP of $299.99.

Not cool Woot. Not cool.

$499 - *Mall Kiosk price

For those complaining about the MSRP. This is the DELUXE edition of the Wii U.

I’ve never seen one of these for sale in a store, but the only difference is that the internal storage is 32GB instead of 8GB. Either one allows for an SD card expansion card so I’m not sure why Nintendo tacked on $100 more for the extra capacity.
Originally, the 8GB one was $399, and I’m guessing the 32GB was $499. But again, I’ve never actually seen one for sale in a store.
Having said all that, if you were going to buy a Wii U already, this is a great deal. Mainly because you get the extra internal storage, but also because you the Mario Maker Download code (so you don’t have a disk to worry about) with the console. These models are becoming harder to find in the store, and the Mario Maker game is the only thing that has made me want a Nintendo console in the last 15 years.

The “Deluxe” version is the only one Nintendo still makes, AFAIK. If you see a Wii U in a store at all, it’s likely Deluxe.

A few things:

You can still buy the non-deluxe console (which is white, not black) for $199. The deluxe console in a variety of different bundle options is available for $299 from multiple retailers (GameStop, Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc.)…

but the Super Mario Maker Bundle was exclusive to Wal-Mart and is out of stock there. It’s going for $300+ on Amazon new right now.

So I’d say this is still a deal, even if it’s not a super big amazing deal.

The deluxe is the only model they still sell(Or don’t in the case of the wii-u) at retail. In the US the basic model was only sold in white at retail.

Hey all!

MSRP has been updated.

All of this is incredibly incorrect.

The basic white with 8GB was 299 at launch, deluxe black with 32GB was 349. Currently produced they have a deluxe 32GB with Mario Kart 8 MSRP 299. The deluxe with Mario Maker was a Wal-Mart holiday exclusive for 299. There was NEVER a $100 difference between basic and deluxe and the SD slot is for limited expanded memory while both versions will allow for an external HDD to be used.

This is sort of a deal but eh, not really.

Did you just make all this crap up? Where are you getting your facts from?
