I actually have one of these self winding hose contraptions, and while it’s a different model, the water it uses to rewind the hose is wasted on to the ground instead of coming out the business end of the hose.
I fed the drain hose (the one the water comes out of when you are rewinding the thing) into a five gallon bucket, and it nearly filled it up, winding up my 75" long hose.
Plus when I’m not auto-winding it, it still leaks water all over the place. (I will be getting a manual wind one when I get a job again.)
Now this one might not be as wasteful, but keep in mind you are going to get your feet wet standing there waiting for it to wind up your hose, plus you don’t get a bit of exercise watching it.
Perhaps if they put a solar powered motor on it instead…
So it sounds like you have to have an area to drain water off to for the reel function to work - it doesn’t just reel up without spitting water out the side somewhere. Am I mistaken?
Does anyone know what the ‘tell your friends and earn $$$’ sticker refers to on in the picture woot has posted in the ‘hose guide’ close-up?
I have two of the previous models and they work great. This model has the hose guide which is pretty important. I have to guide the hose by hand on the older model or it will bunch up on one side. While rewinding water will be rerouted into the pistons which turn the reel. The water is then directed through a drain hose to your grass or garden. I have fit a 150’ hose on the reel without an issue and have put the reel through its paces. It works…
So what happens when, during rewinding, the hose gets a kink in it (they always seem to no matter how careful you are)? Would the rewinder have enough power to damage the hose?
