Many of us are working from home these days. Many of you have had to get really creative to create a workplace for you and, in many cases, your kids.
Let’s share what we’ve come up with. Maybe people have ideas that will make our lives easier. Goodness knows, we need all the help we can get right now.
Here’s mine. Nothing fancy. Son & I share an office so he put up a barrier between us.
And this is my cute-as-a-bug g-nephew Zooming with some of his teachers and classmates.
My dad’s job is all email answering and stuff… so he got told to work from home. One problem: we don’t have enough internet speed to actually make that work. In fact, most internet services cannot sell to anybody in our neighborhood. (The black hole of internet…) So he’s working from our church’s basement.
My WFH set up is painful! Luckily, I just ordered two HP monitors from Woot, with the other half’s help! I look forward to not being crossed eyed soon!
If it’s was anything like where my old work was located, the decision makers determined that the area was unprofitable so they wouldn’t improve their infrastructure. Due to city licensing and boundaries, the cable provider couldn’t just extend a line from one block over. There was only 6 businesses on the trunk, which meant there was no ROI to run new fiber. In 2015, the fastest service available there was 1 megabit DSL.
We live in a hole. So they cannot sell to us because the 'net… just doesn’t work here (except at subpar speeds.) something about being at the bottom of a hill I guess?..And they got complaints from previous occupants. So we have very, very slow internet because a new guy at AT&T didn’t get the memo and sold us internet. Slow net is better than none, though, so I ain’t griping too loud.
