is anyone who got in on this last time willing to share their experiences? don’t be shy!
mill was first sucker last time and this time. i guess that says something…
Why the crickets?
Drinking windows?
I tried the SLH and did not like it at all…IIRC it was too sweet and had a very bitter finish It could have just been an off bottle or I did not let it rest long enough from shipping but I have never been able to bring myself to drink that second bottle.
I guess it’s time to dig it out of the cellar and give it a go.
Edit. I was typing about a different company. I shouldn’t type while half asleep
I’m sorry to hear that. I’ve never had a complaint on the SLH. I can replace it for you. It shouldn’t have a bitter finish. Please open the other bottle and let me know. My email is richard@ottercovewines.com
Wow. Now THAT is “concern for the customer.”
If you look a the picture cross eyed there are three bottles!
…or four depending on how cross eyed you get after 2 bottles.
I was going to say the same thing. If nothing else, they understand customer service.
Welcome back winery. We greatly appreciate participation and service on this level!
This is such an amazing deal on these two wines. The 07 SLH is off-the-scale, world-class pinot and the 06 Balo is one of the best CA pinots I’ve ever tasted. Both can age another 8 years no problem, but are very approachable and ready to drink now too. Perfect balance, aromatic, well integrated, intense mid palate and long finish. I consistently rank Richard Oh’s pinots up there with our own!
Well dang it. These sound very tempting. I might have to pass, as i’m currently trying to keep my spending down. I’ll just cry myself to sleep
What are the pH numbers for these? Thanks
,
From the wine spies the pH is 3.1 on a 2006 SLH bottle, but this offering is 2007 SLH. No info on the Balo.
Out of curiosity, how does pH affect your decision? What pH would you look for in a Pinot?
I bought these same wines in 2010. They were great. My recollection is that both bottles were rich and delicious with a wonderful finish. Sadly I did not take more detailed notes but I’ve been waiting for them to pop back up…
So what’s the story behind the name “Oh”?
Maybe because it’s the owner’s last name?
“Oh” is the name of the winemaker.
And, “Oh”, I have a question…I’m pretty much done ordering any wine from anywhere that does not hold for fall shipping…but I am aware of summer shipping here on woot, but do not know the details…can someone explain? Thanks!
The wine made commander Sulu go “Oh My”
