That’s a great question. Looking at the current Amazon listing, Orbram’s Cat 8 50 foot flat cable has a slightly different cutaway image that does show the proper foil wrap around each twisted pair. If the cutaway picture in the Woot listing is correct, we’re just looking at Cat 6.

I doubt it’s actually Cat 8 but it is at least Cat 6 and has no issues with 2.5gbps and 10w Poe at 50ft, that’s what I’m using it for. Not sure I’d trust it with PoE++ or higher but for connecting access points or desktops it’s tough to beat the price.

I kind of hate this cable. Maybe its just wrong use case, but its so incredibly rigid that it’s a pain to lay and when I had a bend in it I was getting packet loss. Wound up just getting a mono price micro slim run 50ft instead, and this one will be getting donated to the thrift store.

I couldn’t agree more. These cables come folded in half and then spiral wound so both connectors and up on the same end. If you drop these out of the bag expecting to unwind them like normal, you will have a huge mess to unwind. You MUST roll them out from their spiral or dance around your house trying to de-loop them due to their rigidity to twisting. A “flat” cable is a good idea but poor in practice.

I am not sure if it was the kinks created attempting to unwind or not, but one of my 50ft has terrible signal while several others appear to be okay.
