The Internet is abuzz and the news agencies have been reporting for a while now that Osama Bin Laden is dead. President Obama was supposed to address the nation about an hour ago but there have been several delays. He’s expected to come on any moment.
People are gathered outside the White House and are singing The Star Spangled Banner and are chanting “USA! USA!”.
It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since those horrible attacks on September 11th, 2001.
It really isn’t going to matter all that much. Still lots of terrorists ready to take his place. Plus, we are pissing more people off all the time.
I think it will make a difference. Probably in a more abstract way than if he’d been killed or captured immediately, but I think there will be different thinking.
I agree that this doesn’t end the threat to the United States and the rest of the world, but it does bring some closure to families of the victims of 9/11.
