Ugh…
This reminds me of when I worked in a tire store in the 70’s, working on split-rims.
I hated split-rims.

Some might suggest that if you remember the 60s or 70s, then you did them incorrectly.
Oh man, the shop I worked at in Idaho back in the 80s had a lot of split-rims & wheels with the lock rings on them… generally on the older potato trucks with a rock stuck between the duallys that would wear holes in the sidewall of both tires.
I didn’t mind them and was actually pretty good at doing them without issues, so everyone came to get me whenever they showed up.
I did hate the stupid cages though… never used them. It made it too hard to keep an eye on the ring(s) to make sure they weren’t coming out while it aired up.
Edit: I kinda like the little hook on the top of this hammer… our hammers never had that. Had to lift the wheels all on our own. No wonder my back still hurts ![]()
Well, I remember the split-rims. It was a ‘high-end’ tire store right out of La Jolla, CA and we really did few split-rims. We got lots of fancy imports wanting Pirelli or Michelin tires and beaters wanting recaps.
I don’t remember much about any of the concerts I went to though…
