I love these chairs and the price of this one is fantastic!

My wife gave me a newspaper advert. some time ago where they were selling an Adirondack chair (very much like this one) and asked me to buy it. It was $129.99 but it was made of fir wood and required MAJOR assembly. (Fir wood is a cheap and not very sturdy, or pretty softwood which is usually used for making framing lumber) I told her that I thought I could do better and would wait until it came up here…I was right.

Silly question. Is this as maintenance-free as Teak for outdoor applications? Or for that matter am I mistaken about Teak, as my understanding is that you pretty much have to do nothing and it remains pretty similar to when new. This stuff, needing a 2-4 coats of linseed oil per year seems high maintenance comparatively.

Yes, absolutely. Brazilian Eucalyptus performs extremely well in virtually any environment. The only place where any outdoor solid hardwood furniture does not perform well, is in the high desert areas. Enjoy and send pictures from the Catskills. Tim from Outdoor Interiors

You will love these chairs since there is very little assembly as well…super easy to set up, and Brazilian Eucalyptus is a much more superior dense hardwood than fir. Enjoy!

Would these be okay directly on the grass/dirt? I have a deck but it’s quickly filling up with all sorts of other stuff.

I am super jazzed these have come up again! I hesitated when they came up the first time and missed out and when I tried to look them up, they were priced at over 200 at the cheapest, so I am in for 2!

I got one of these a little while ago. It is a nice looking chair and seems sturdy. A few nits: a couple of the small screws in the footrest were stripped and won’t tighten. Nothing structural, but leaves some loose slats. The back of the chair is not as comfortable as some Adirondack chairs I have used - it is flat (no curve), so it does not contour to the back and is not comfortable for napping. Maybe I’ll try adding a cushion.
