Very good reviews (4.5 out of 5.0) over at bhphotovideo.com
$129.99 new with one year warranty at the store with the big red bulls eye. Not sure if this is the same model?
[MOD: Not the same model. That one is 10x zoom. Ours is 20x.]
Can you charge the battery while it’s in the camera?
Aren’t these the ones Amazon was selling as a deal last week for the same price? I thought those were NEW?
Why do you want to do that?
This one is $30 cheaper than the prior Woot sale, but this time it doesn’t come with a 16gb SD card & carrying case.
[MOD: UPDATE! This is bundled a 16GB SD Card and a Small Case]
The moderator’s comment below says that the camera has a 16x zoom, while everything else in the product description says “20x”. Is the moderator being too moderate in his statement?
[MOD: Eep, my bad. Fixed. Thanks!]
Easy to drop the price when you don’t include the case and SD card that were included last time. AMAZON had this same camera for $109.99 NEW with free shipping just 5 days ago. Hard to call a $5 savings for a RECONDITIONED model a deal.
At this point I’ve got 16GB cards littering my desk but you can easily find class 10 cards for sub $10. Haven’t checked out what the previous case was like, but again you can find those for less than $10 plus it is something that someone may want to have the ability to select what fits their needs. So, probably works out for the best as that $30 savings could go towards add-ons that better fit what the buyer wants. (Larger memory card, case with certain design/features, etc.)
Tempted… my birthday just passed and my mom said she didn’t know what to get me. Maybe I could upgrade my old camera (a 6MP Casio that has served me quite well as a handy pocket camera) to something newer. After putting the Casio’s battery back in when I had recharged it I had to adjust the date. I think the fact that the date defaults to 01/01/2004 is telling me it’s time for an upgrade…
Think the mod mixed the zoom and the MP. I believe the “bullseye” camera the original poster was confusing was the DMC-SZ3. ($129.99 new, 16.1MP, 10x zoom) Oddly, that same red dot store has the DMC-ZS25 (+K for black, +S for silver) listed as 14.1MB and 4x zoom ($200+ each not available) despite being able to see the 20x zoom marking right on the camera body.
[MOD: Yep, fixed. :)]
I have the similar DMCZS19 and for more than a year I’ve loved this camera, until last week when the lens would get stuck in the out position, or not open, or I’d get zoom error or system error messages. If I took it home and plugged it in, let it charge for a while (even though I always keep the battery charged up) it might behave normally again for a day. I guess I just want to say that the optics are good and the photos are good, but the mechanical aspects (the zoom, motor, battery) can get very flaky after a year and leave you in a bind when you really need to take a photo. Hence, I have ipod photos when I had hoped for Lumix photos.
“The TZ35 (also known as the ZS25)”:
I ordered this when it was on Amazon last week. I have only had it for a few days but so far so good.
I was deciding between this and last years “higher” model with GPS and touch screen for 70 more.
Figured i could do worse for $109 with a 20x (up to x40 digital) zoom.
I also found the review from CameraLabs to be very useful: http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Panasonic_Lumix_DMC_TZ35_ZS25/
Does anyone know what the factory reconditioned warranty covers?
Pulled the trigger (pressed the shutter button?) and am in for 1. Guess it’s been a while since I wooted, noticed that “the man” is now increasing my woot cost by snagging taxes. Bummer! Would have liked to have gotten the new one on the Amazon deal the other week (which still would have had tax as well) but that was a lighting sale item. I think the chance of finding the cam new at that price again may be slim or at least easily missed. I’ve had good luck with refurbs so I’m taking my chances.
According to the manual, yes, the battery charges while in the camera and conned to a USB port (wall charger, laptop, car USB, etc)
I like that feature so I can just plug it in while in the car.
Who has refurb’ed the product?
Is this Panasonic manufacturer refurbished, or it is refurbished by someone else?
Reason I ask is that i bought Nikon refurbs from a small company that did refurbs themselves, and it was a very poor job. Both same from another retailer that had these refurbed by Nikon, and they were awesome.
