I’ve owned two Lumix cameras since 2005 and would buy another one without a second thought if I needed a new camera. (Gave my last one to my little brother and upgraded a couple years ago.) The best quality pictures I’ve ever had out of point and shoots. Always happier with my camera’s results than other’s.
I own this camera. Do not think that you’re getting a DSLR–you aren’t. However, you are getting a great point-and-shoot camera with an excellent zoom. My gf curses me every time I take a picture at great distances and can capture details her camera could never hope to capture.
Caution ! Caution !
I had always had great luck with refurbs. Well, untill now. I bought the very similar Panasonic DNC-ZS19 from Woot earlier this year and I thought it was a good point-and-shoot. It made it through the 90 day warranty just fine but 30 days later it showed the infamous “LENS ERROR” message and that’s all she wrote. Nothing works now. Factory reconditioned ? Which factory? Sorry I won’t buy another refurb from Woot.
Please check out this same model,DMC-ZS25 , over at the big “A”. Brand new with much better warranty for only $30 more…
The lack of an optical viewfinder is a cost-saving measure that has been adopted by most compact camera makers and has been accepted by people who have never used an optical finder and do not know what they are missing.
These cameras are fine for most things, but not good for careful outdoor composition unless you attach a hood to the back.
Many of my students never even saw the optical finder on cameras that had them and never knew you could look through them.
And now some of these same people buy a DSLR and keep using the live view screen!
Sometimes it pays to get the square trade warranty with woot refurbs. I personally have not had any issues with woot refurbs (Asus tablet, Rokus, etc.)but I generally get the Square Trade warranty as an add on. Square Trade is great at customer service should you encounter a problem after the typical 90 day woot or manufacturer warranty.
You are correct; you also may be missing the KCP after the numbers…a different model of the ZS25 (and pricier). I believe I am going in for one of these, refurb or not
