Paula De--Errr…Dinnerware!

Fairly good reviews on Amazon for many of these sets. Woot’s prices are also better.

I just bought two sets of the Paula Deen Southern Gathering, then Googled them to see if a serving set was available…

Saw that Sears is selling the exact same PD Southern Gathering sets for $22.44!!!

My bad!!!

Boy do I feel like a fool!!!

---- OOOOPPPPPSSSSS!!! JUST GOT MY CONFIRMATION FROM SEARS AND THEIR PICTURE SHOWED 16 PIECE SET… ACTUAL ORDER WAS FOR ONE PLACE SETTING!!!

MY BAD AGAIN!!!

WOOT RULES!!!

BACK IN FOR 2!!

Are you sure that wasn’t just for a place setting? At least that was what I found when I looked. The actual set was much more.

What a lousy day for online shopping! Just got my confirmation email from Sears and it IS for 2 place settings, not two complete sets!!!

Redfaced and apologetic… I’m back to purchasing Woot’s at their astoundingly wonderful price…

I’m unable to find in the descriptive material if this set is suitable for fried foods only. Anyone know if it can withstand steamed vegetables and/or salads?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

They’re great for grits, taters, gumbo, collards & ham hocks, buttermilk biscuits, pecan and shoofly pie, and a whole bunch more…

I’d suggest you air on the side of caution, and put lots of butter on your steamed veggies, and top your salads with double or triple servings of bleu cheese or buttermilk ranch (gotta have shredded cheese, bacon bits, and croutons too), and then you should be fine!

These are very tasteful designs at a good price, and if they are genuine porcelain china they’ll look good on any table. Who cares if she licensed her name to the product. Irrelevant to her own personal failings, whatever they may be.

Does what she said once 20 or 30 years ago matter. Other people in positions similar to her have said worse more recently. It just seems like selective targeting.

I don’t think it was all 20 to 30 years ago. Also if we are to believe what others have said about her, its more of a pattern of behavior rather than just the words.

It was within the last decade, when planning a slavery themed wedding, talking about dressing up the “little n-words” as house slaves.

That said, woot, you made me LOL.

why does what someone said matter anyways? if they put their name on a quality product i’m buying it.

would I have paula as my bff? probably not.

for you sports fans ty cobb was a mean sob and a bigot. word is he could play some ball though.

I’m not defending the woman, not one bit. I think she should be publicly castigated and humiliated, which she has been. But to be fair, I don’t believe it was a “slavery themed wedding”. I think it was an antebellum themed wedding, and she went way too far with her comments and actions. And yes, apparently it was a pattern of behavior, not just a one time thing.

We used to know an elderly couple who liked to entertain, and they always hired black persons to do the cooking and serving. It made me feel a little uncomfortable until I talked to a few of the people they hired. They had nothing but praise and respect for the old couple. So things can be done in a proper way. I guess Paula didn’t.
