Are these shorts silicone gel padded?
Are these bike shorts? Do they have a pad? If so, what is it made of?
Found them on LL Bean:
88% nylon, 12% Lycra® elastane.
Chamois liner: open cell foam covered with polyester.
Machine wash, line dry.
Pearl Izumi Quest shorts are, in fact, bike shorts. They incorporate the company’s Escape padding, which is not gel-based; the feature description that refers to “blended thickness” is talking about the pad.
But note that the retail price on the Pearl Izumi website is $50, not the inflated $80 price Woot refers to. So the price here is “only” 74% off rather than 84%. But either way, I’m in at this price. I’ve always liked Pearl Izumi shorts, even though I’m not crazy about the “turned hem” construction they adopted a few years ago.

Amazon reviews suggest the padding is not great, but hard to beat for the price.
Amazon reviews also suggest these run small. Consider ordering a size up.
What’s the “turned hem” design?
