Pentax K-x Digital SLR with 18-55mm Kit Lens

Bring on the cats!

Someone bought 3? what for?

These cameras are pretty great considering they’re backwards compatible with 30+ years of Pentax lenses. That makes lens prices typically half that of Canon or Nikon (pretty much the photographers biggest investment).

you don’t know the world of dslrs

comparison!

$584.95 at Amazon, good reviews, too.

I approve of pictures with cats. =^.^=

I have a Nikon I’m looking to upgrade. Unfortunately, since I also have Nikon lenses, I must upgrade to a Nikon.

Damn proprietariness!

resale…

Predictions:

1 DiscountSam is headed to ebay
2 There are two more left to sell

A kit lens is a lens that comes with a camera body. They are usually the least expensive and therefore lowest quality lens of that size you can buy, but work fine if you’re not a pro.

Wow, discountsam must be rich. He bought 3 of them!

A kit lens is a lens that is sold as a package with the camera body to make up a “kit”.

Most DSLR cameras are bundled with a basic zoom lens as part of a kit, or “kit lens”. Which in this case is the “smc PENTAX DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL II” lens. (A great lens to start with, which costs about $100-$130 retail)

Thanks for that. Saving the link to the site for future reference!

The kit lens is the included lens that comes with low-end cameras. It attempts to be good at everything but is actually pretty bad at everything. Useful for snapshots but not much else.

Another great (THOROUGH) review!

Bought one refurbed this summer - couldn’t be happier. Also, couldn’t tell it was NOT “new”.

Bought a used one little over $400 at ebay while ago. Good all around camera. It’s not weather proof.

Go for it. I can tell you from experience that you will enjoy using those manual lenses on this camera.
