For people who would ask about image stabilization, I personally have found it better to have the image stabilization feature in the camera body.
Reasons being is that it makes the lens cheaper for the camera and I’ve found it to produce a better quality picture.
Just my two cents about image stabilization.
That link in comment one is obviously the lens only.
That is a lens, for this camera. Woot is selling the camera, with the lens. The camera itself on amazon is $1250, but with shake reduction (not sure if the woot version has this)
There doesn’t seem to be a camera attached to that lens over there on Amazon. The camera is, um, the more expensive part, and that could, just could, be why this sellout.woot offering is more expensive. Just sayin…
Ah, by the time you find the body, I’ll be out of the country, arrrh!
Great price, would love to see more camera gear on woot, maybe in the Nikon and/or DSLR accessory department.
Wow, Woot sells actual SLR camera, the real thing!
For everybody who’s anybody in photography, there’s no secret, that the most detailed and in-depth reviews of cameras are posted on dpreview.com
Here’s the 35 page review of the said camera, that will answer just about every question anybody can possibly think of!
If you’re serious about this camera, I suggest at least skimming through it.
as an avid pentax user, i must say this camera works real well with the old and new K-Mount lenses.
I shoot with a K20D. Weatherized body, and this kit lens is sealed too, so this isn’t a bad choice if you’re into the rough stuff.
Ergonomics are decent, and if you already have k-mount glass, this great deal is a no-brainer.
Pair it up with one of Pentax’s amazing limited lenses (Mine wears the FA43 LTD almost everywhere) and you’ve got a potent camera.
I’ve got quite a few samples with that combo on my site - http://www.limitofx.com/gallery
heres another review
This looks like a great deal considering your get both the camera and lens
Too bad it doesnt take video like some other SLR cameras.
My first “real” camera was a Pentax K1000 SLR (a film camera), circa 1982. For what it’s worth, I had that thing in the shop more times that I care to remember to get the aperature fixed. Screwed up all my honeymoon pictures (which I found out about after the fact). I still hear about that from my wife, as you can imagine.
