Philips 8.5” Portable DVD Player with iPod Dock

Aww… no deal then.

I’d expect that from a smartphone, not an 8.5" screen.

Actually, it is in the “click the image” popup picture AND the blurb:

2.5 hours of battery life isn’t enough for this type of product. I wouldn’t be able to watch Braveheart.

If it’s region locked, I believe there’s a code you can enter with the remote to change the region (including 0) to take care of that issue. A little Google searching ought to turn it up quickly.

G’night.

I bought two of these last year for my boys. they are used as a “bribe” when we are camping and it’s time for them to go to bed. They love them, no complaints. I filled an sd card with their favorite movies via handbrake.

3 star review on cnet + 2 year old technology = meh

@jkmahan Yes it is locked. It does not play PAL or SECAM. :frowning:

Hmmm…I think Nevada is alergic to them or they are all in casinos tonight oblivious to Woot! Interesting.

Agreed. That’s a terrible screen resolution. My 7" picture frame has that resolution, and it’s pretty crappy.

Will this charge the iPhone or just only play off of it?

Does this only work with ipod or can I use my Creative Zen Vision M’s AV out to hook it up to this?

I wonder if it would work with my Sansa???

Oops, I think I answered my own question. The description says it works with a composite AV in, so it should work with any player that has an AV out.

So is the iPod dock actually integrated into the device itself, or does it attach onto the side?

Could I for instance hook up my iPod nano and push the dock back inside the machine and use it that way, or what?

Will this thing allow me to view internet screen if I am browsing internet on my Itouch?

This is interesting from the Amazon site;
6 new from $140.00
2 used from $155.98
3 refurbished from $77.99

Wonder why used units cost more than refurbs? - seems as if you have a better chance of factory support with refurbs.

Anyway, great price on Woot.

From CNET review:
iPod video is very dark.

The bottom line: The long list of features on the Philips DCP851–including the ability to play DVDs, digital media files, and iPod videos–is overshadowed by its mediocre picture quality and short battery life.

Ahh, figured it out myself. Re-read the description, it is built in. Sweet, I think I’m in for one.

Are there speakers? Or do you provide your own headphones?
