And the color temperature, is …?

They talk about the color ranges on their product page.

Since these color adjust, they give a range. For the BR30, they state:

All shades of white, from warm to cold color temperatures: CCT range 2000-6500K

Bought these last time for $140. Didn’t think I needed them until I got em. Lots of fun. Download some 3rd party apps to really open up the possibilities. I’d buy again but I don’t have any more light fixtures.

One thing, the listing says the A-19 bonus bulb doesn’t change color. Mine does, same color range as the BR-30. Not sure if a fluke or the description is wrong.

I had the same situation. I bought 2 kits as it was cheaper to do this and not use the extra Hub than to buy the bulbs separately. Both of my A19 bulbs are full color also. I was pleasantly pleased with this. Now I am back for 2 more kits (hoping for both A19’s to color change again).

Note this is the version 1 hub which is NOT Siri/HomeKit compatible.

These are also semi-directional downlights which will not fit into some standard lamp fixtures with a shade. Fits in some, but not all.

I do like these bulbs, and I’m actually still using my V1 hub which integrates nicely with Indigo.

Even if you already have the hub, 4 bulbs with 3 being color changing for $25 each is a pretty good deal. But don’t expect to turn around & sell the V1 hub for much money.

I don’t know about the bulbs, but this is the OLD hub and will not work with the apple Home control system… not a huge deal, but if you want the integrated control you will have to buy a new Hue Hub to get the total and newest features of this system…

If I’m buying this for a home bar and won’t be integrating it with any house-wide home automation (i.e., I don’t THINK I need Apple Home, etc.)… would I be missing out on any other features??

And how much bigger are these bulbs that they don’t fit in all housings? Thinking about putting these in a custom built-in cabinet.

Thanks.

(EDIT: Found this article about Gen 1 vs Gen 2. Apparently if you don’t have iOS there’s not much of an advantage to getting Gen 2.)

Can these be used outdoors for landscape and holiday lighting?

I don’t guess anyone needs this, but it can be nice to have. I bought a couple of sets the last go around on Woot. I use it to adjust the mood in the living room. Makes watching TV more enjoyable. I also have these linked with my Amazon Echos so I can tell Alexa to turn them on or off or to dim them.

My bonus bulbs DO change color which made them an even better bonus. If you have an Amazon Fire, you CAN download apps that work. Philips Hue support told me I was out of luck. I have an older iPhone and needed something to interact with these.

Best deal yet…should have bought 3!! Great product

I had an unusual experience - these bulbs tried to burn my house down. I plugged all three of the main bulbs into lamps, then powered them on as the instructions said.

Visible flames shot out of two of the bulbs, plus lots of smoke. Surge protector tripped and cut them off, thankfully. The two bulbs are dead, obviously, as are the lamps.

(the third bulb worked fine, hooray)

If this happened in just one lamp I’d be likely to blame the lamp. But it happened in two of them, both of which had previously been working fine for years with CFLs.

The nice folks at Woot gave me a full refund without any hassle. But as an FYI, be careful with plugging these in in case the refurb process is to blame.

Off to go lamp shopping - do they ever show up in woot-offs?

Soooo sorry for the almost fire! And yes, we do have lamps show up in the Woot-Offs, sometimes. Keep any eye on Woot, Home.Woot and Sellout.Woot.
