My name is Kevin, does that mean I’m the Armadillo?

Nooooooooooooo!!! I just bought a cheaper version on Sellout.woot.com that wasn’t nearly this good. Wish I would have waited! It shipped yesterday!!!

I can’t attest directly to the quality of the speakers used here, but a friend of mine did report that his left speaker literally started to smoke after less than a month.

I’m guessing the warranty will cover it, and Philips is offering 1 year on it here, so go ahead and buy it if you want one.

Good reviews on amazon. Looks to be a steal.

how long is the battery power on this? or does it plug into the wall?

Yeah, don’t think so. Too bad this won’t work for a Creative Zen Vision M player. That would be a sweet setup!

Does this work for all ipods or just the ipod touch/iphone?

users manual

Any dockable ipod! YAY!

Keep in mind that the “wireless” subwoofer still needs to be plugged into a wall outlet so it can’t just go anywhere. The wireless capability only eliminates ONE RCA cord (sub out) so it seems stupid for Philips to spend the extra money to have wireless signal to the subwoofer, especially when the subwoofer usually won’t be more than a few feet away from the main unit.

The big question is whether you need to place your iPhone in airplane mode. A few of these docking stations have come up on woot before, but interference comes in from the phone unless the connection is turned off. There’s a few docking stations where you don’t have to do this, but is this one?

I bought this item as a gift on Amazon, but the recipient didn’t want it, so I ended up using it myself. The looks clashed with the bachelor aesthetic I was going for in my house (dirty dishes, clothes everywhere, and here’s this slick black speaker system? No thank you very much, sir!).

As far as functionality, I was disappointed that it had a lackluster alarm feature, only seeming to allow one per day. This also clashed with my bachelor lifestyle, but since I now have a wife to remind me to shave, put on clean clothes, and not scratch myself in public, it suits my needs at this point.

I’ve compared it to the sound of the Bose equipment, and although I am not an audiophile, my ears could not detect an appreciable difference. Surprising from a Philips, but take it for what it is.

The bass is robust for my purposes (and my porpoises, incidentally) in either mode. I don’t really have any porpoises, but if I did, I think they’d like the bass. Or they’d eat it. I’m not really sure.

Anyway, it seems that the price is right, so why don’t you just buy it? You’ll probably get another chance in the next Woot Off is you miss it.

The reviews on Amazon look almost, to a review, like plants. All of them are glowing, and each of the reviewers seem to have one review: this product. Or two, with little real value.

I want this device, but Amazon’s reviews made me suspicious.

You guys should write a book of all the totally random Woot stories like Kevin the Armadillo there. I would probably buy it. They make me laugh everytime! And, =( I have no iPod or anything that can be used for this item, I am saddened.

Compatibility: iPod mini; iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G; iPod classic 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G; iPod touch 1G

Anyone know if the SD slot understands SDHC cards? Or, what about large USB sticks? Can it power a 2.5" USB hard drive?

Does Kevin have a magical iPhone that records video? Lucky armadillo.
